STREAMS & WETLANDS

stream restoration and stabilization + wetland repair and installation + low-head dam removal + dredging

WQSi has undertaken many stream and wetland restoration endeavors over the last two decades.  We have developed a deep understanding of fundamental ecosystem functions and characteristics.  This understanding is biologic, hydrologic, geologic (sediment and geomorphology), hydraulic, and sociologic.  Our stream and wetland restoration capabilities include but are not limited to: changes to hydrology (for example instream flow, or connection of flood plain wetlands), dam removal, improved stream crossings, geomorphic stream designs, riparian buffers, improved floodplain conveyance, creating hyporheic fluxes, and improving connectivity.

DREDGING

With an extensive inventory of dredging equipment on hand for your project. The type of dredging you will require depends on the body of water you are working in. In many cases, both types of dredging are effective, but depending on the cost restraints, equipment access, how fragile the environment is and sediment re-suspension concerns, one method may be better suited than the other.

  • Mechanical

  • Hydraulic
