Adding a lightning protection system to a building increases protection from physical damage, protects electrical systems and appliances and reduces the possibility of fire. WQSi installs lightning protection systems for any size or type structure. We are one of Underwriters Laboratories (UL) listed installers and we only use UL listed copper, aluminum and stainless steel materials including bimetallic couplings to protect against corrosion. UL CERTIFIED SYSTEM INSTALLATION
A Lightning Protection System is comprised of several components: Air Terminals (Lightning Rods), Roof Conductors, Downlead Conductors, Ground Electrodes (Ground Rod, Ground Plate, Etc.) and Surge Suppression. There are rules in the standards for each of these components. WQSi is qualified to install to NFPA 780 and UL96A specifications.

SYSTEM TESTING
A lightning protection system for commercial buildings should be checked periodically, and immediately after a new roof or any roof repairs, installations of anything on the roof, roof mount A/C units, and other mechanicals that have air terminals and cables attached. We inspect your current system for deficiencies and recommend how best to protect your structure.

SYSTEM MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
One of the most important factors to keeping your structure safe from lightning is doing maintenance checks on your existing system be assured your system is in proper working order. We make certain to inspect your existing system for deficiencies and provide repairs or upgrades to keep your assets safe.
A lightning protection system is intended to last the life of the structure it protects and typically only requires maintenance if a building is changed structurally or mechanically. Such changes might include a new roof, an addition, new electrical service etc. At WQSi we use only UL listed materials and installation methods in compliance with nationally recognized safety standards as recognized by Underwriters Laboratories.
